A young cinnamon-phase black bear cub, with his warm reddish-brown fur glowing softly, leans casually against the rough, time-worn trunk of an old white oak on our local golf course. This little adventurer was one of my summer favorites—playful and full of antics, yet always pausing with that serious, wide-eyed gaze of pure curiosity. Captured from countless observations of him and his mama over the season, this painting celebrates his bold spirit and the quiet magic of those shared moments in the wild.

This bear, often lost in quiet, contemplative thought, also appears as one of the tender nuzzling pair in 'Soul Mates'. A gentle and curious soul, she quickly claimed a special place as one of my favorites. Frequently spotted with her steadfast companion, she roamed the wild expanse of the Khutzeymateen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary.
