Born and raised in British Columbia, Lynn Erikson (formerly Pocklington) has dedicated her life to capturing the essence of nature through her art. With a deep-rooted connection to the rugged landscapes and wildlife of BC and the Alberta Rockies, her work reflects years of exploration and observation. Her watercolours beautifully depict the serene, snow-capped landscapes, while her acrylics burst with the vibrant energy of the region's fauna, particularly bears.
Lynn's passion for grizzly bears was enhanced by her immersive experience at Canada's only Grizzly Bear Sanctuary in the Khutzeymateen Valley, where she observed these majestic creatures in their natural, undisturbed habitat.
Over the past five years while living in Costa Rica, Lynn has turned her artistic eye towards the rich biodiversity of Central America's jungles. Her focus has shifted to the colorful and diverse bird life, with notable works like "Out on a Limb" highlighting the character and plight of endangered species.
Lynn is an active member of several art organizations, including Artists for Conservation, the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Whistler Art Council, and she was previously the Vice Chair of the Pemberton Art Council. She regularly contributes to charities and participates in various events.
In 2010, her artistic talent was recognized on an international stage when she was commissioned by the Resort Municipality of Whistler to create "Tender Moments" for the 2010 Olympic gift project, a piece gifted to visiting dignitaries including a member of the Royal Family.
